چکیده
The effects of conservation strategies on soil organic carbon (SOC) and phosphorus (P) dynamics in dryland wheat under semi-arid temperate conditions are not well understood. This study quantified the tillage straw management SOC concentrations stocks P fractions after 40 years a climate. treatments were (burned burned) combined with methods (conventional (CT), stubble mulch (SM), no-tillage (NT)). Fertilizer nitrogen (N) applied annually at 60 12.5 kg ha−1, respectively. soils sampled from 0–50, 50–200, 200–400, 400–600, 600–800, 800–1000 mm depths, analyzed using standard methods. concentration was affected by management, except 200–400 where it higher burned rather than retained. total C stock (0–1000 mm) NT burning, CT no SM, retention burning. In topsoil, had significantly (p < 0.05) Bray 1 P, NaOH II Pi, residual SM CT, while burning increased NaHCO3 Pi concentrations. findings imply that is tillage, but subsoil only, improved straw, retention, labile relative to region.

Contrasting soil physical properties after zero and traditional tillage of an alluvial soil in the semi-arid subtropics
Zero till is commonly advocated as a preferred cropping system to conventional, multicultivation practices. Zero till is particularly attractive on clay soils, to minimise compaction and induce natural structure formation through shrink±swell cycles. Increases in soil water storage and increased numbers of (bene®cial) soil fauna with zero till have been reported, relative to traditional tillage...
متن کاملEffects of straw mulch on soil water and winter wheat production in dryland farming
The soil water supply is the main factor that limits dryland crop production in China. In a three-year field experiment at a dryland farming experimental station, we evaluated the effects of various straw mulch practices on soil water storage, grain yield, and water use efficiency (WUE) of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum). Field experiments were conducted with six different mulch combinations (...

A multi-year experiment was conducted to compare the effects of conservation tillage (no-till and ridge-till) with conventional plow tillage on organic C, N, and resin-extractable P in an alkaline semi-arid subtropical soil (Hidalgo sandy clay loam, a fine-loamy, mixed, hyperthermic Typic Calciustoll) at Weslaco, TX (26890N 978570W). Tillage comparisons were established on irrigated plots in 19...
متن کاملImpacts of different tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yield under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions
Effects of six tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yields were evaluated for a clay soil (Typic Haploxererts) under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions in a three year study (2006-2009). The experiment was designed as a completely randomized-block with three replications. Treatments were: conventional tillage with residue incorporated (CT1), conventional tillage wi...
متن کاملSoil Organic Carbon Content and Stocks in Relation to Grazing Management in Semi-Arid Grasslands of Kenya
Rangelands cover approximately 85% of Kenya’s land mass and is a major resource for livestock farming with a considerable potential to mitigate climate change, yet these lands are stressed differently by various management. Our study aimed at determining the influence of grazing management systems (rotational, continuous and ungrazed) on soil organic carbon stocks in Yoani ranch located in the ...
